Last Comic Standing?  Heffron competes for the Title

Detroit funny boy Heffron goes for title

SALINE, MICHIGAN  JULY 7, 2004

The NBC reality show, Last Comic Standing, where a group of comedians live together, joke together and vote each other off (a la Survivor) is currently running on Tuesdays.  It's a decent show with these clowns giving their best material in order to stay on the show.  You'll always get a couple laughs out of the contestants, or at a minimum, from host and Jim Rome jungle fan Jay Mohr.

I actually met one contestant, John Heffron, who is still on the show, in Salt Lake City for Novell's BrainShare conference.  He did a show at the Delta Center before the Sammy Hagar concert and was hilarious.  He had the crowd rolling.  It turns out Heffron is from Detroit and happened to be at a bar after the show chilling out.  He told me he'll be back in Ann Arbor at the Showcase comedy club this fall - we'll see - if he is indeed the Last Comic Standing, then we'll see if mr. big shot has time for us little people.

Mohr's new book, Gasping for Airtime [more], is currently available from Amazon.com.
