Michigan Football and Sports
Illustrated
The
table below lists all of the
instances which Michigan football
has made it onto a Sports
Illustrated cover (both for good
reasons and for bad reasons).
The current streak in 2003 is
incredible: 3 covers since
September, including consecutive
weeks.
The
best covers for Michigan fans?
Well, it has to be the December 1,
1997 cover where Marcus Ray is shown
sending Ohio State loudmouth David
Boston for the ride of his life.
It also clearly spells out who is
#1. The next? The
December 1, 2003 cover with Chris
Perry is real nice, but I'd have to
give the nod to Desmond Howard's
first cover (of three lifetime) from
September 23, 1991 that reads,
"Hail, Hail", after Michigan
"conquers" Notre Dame. Old
school folks might prefer the 1976
close up of quarterback Ricky Leach.
