Lance Armstrong is a Bad Dude

 SALINE, MICHIGAN  AUGUST 1, 2003

Per Sports Illustrated, when Lance Armstrong asks his young son Luke, 'What does Daddy do?', Luke answers, 'Daddy makes them suffer in the mountains'.

Speaking of Lance, the one hour of coverage on CBS of the final day of the Tour de France 2003 was a complete joke.  The camera work and photos from the last few stages was fine, but there should have been more details about the races with the race - such as the team and sprint titles.

My buddy Lew just watched the replay and sent me this note, "The battle for the Green Jersey was epic.  Right down to a photo finish with Cooke and McEwan leaning on each other trying to edge each other out. I can't believe CBS didn't even mention it. You'll have to check it out."

Gee, I would have liked to watch it on the day of.  Thanks for nothing CBS.  It was way too dumbed down.  Memo to CBS:  Inundate us with details - we'll decide what to filter out.

I recently read Lance Armstrong's second book, Every Second Counts, with Sally Jenkins (daughter of epic writer Dan Jenkins).  It was ok.  It's not nearly as good as their first effort, It's not about the bike: My Journey Back to Life  [Amazon.com reviews].

In 2004, Lance goes for his 6th consecutive Tour De France, and you can watch the whole things on OLN.  GO Lance!
