Super Bowl 2003 Takes

SALINE, MI JANUARY 28, 2003

First off, the Super Bowl  game was a mess because of the Tampa Bay Bucs' dominance over the Oakland Raiders. (I don't think we'll see another Tom Brady, Adam Vinatieri finish for the Patriots like we saw in 2001 for quite a while). 

If not for the various Super Bowl Squares in play and the fine food provided by Kathryn Popoff, the whole experience would have been weak.  The Mudbowl, fresh off the Michigan win over MSU, added his usual brand of spice to the occasion.

The 03 Super Bowl commercials were pretty bad overall.  Some of the winners according to my research:

- Linebacker tackling naughty employees

- Ass drinking clown (no hotdog for you)

- Guys carrying refrigerator (old man intimidation)

My one word of advice to all of you companies that spent $2.2 big ones for your 30 second spots: Monkeys.  Only one company used an ape in their advertising (it sucked, but who cares?), and I've seen it listed as the most popular add for the game.  We set the over/under on monkified commercials at 2 and we were very disappointed.
