Memorial Day Weekend Up North DETROIT, MI MAY 27, 2002
Despite some cold weather, a pleasant weekend was had by all up at the Trask family cottages in Hale. Other than the excellent food and drink, the highlight of the weekend had to be Tim Kemp, Eric and Todd turning over their canoe in the frigid waters of the Au Sable. The 3 wet rats made it back up the hill, but needed hours to regain their core temperature. The also lost a couple fishing poles, some tackle, Tim's flaw sunglasses and some pride. These items were not recovered and join Kelley Kuehne's 5 iron down in Davy Jones locker.
Elsewhere, the webmaster went 2 for 4 with 3 put-outs and 1 fielding error in the family kickball match. The disappointing performance is even worse when you consider that I was playing against several young children, young ladies, and a Swiss-cheese infield. Hopefully next year we will all tone the action down a notch, especially Tim K who drilled first-grader Joey Hamel in the back of the head (a la Billy Madison) trying to nail a runner coming home. Joey was immediately sent to the ground but walked off the pain.
Here are a few pictures from the weekend:
