Second Place at Hillcrest CC Member/Guest

Lage-Dooley pull teeth, shoot net 17-under for 2 day tournament

ST. PAUL, MN, JULY 20, 2002

The webmaster partnered with his former boss David Lage at the first annual Member/Guest invitational at Hillcrest CC to take 2nd place overall.  33 teams of two participated in the modified best ball format.  The matches were held July 19-20 at the club in St. Paul, Minnesota. 

Mr. Lage, a 3 handicapper, shot a gross 1-under (72,71) to pace the team.  Greg (a 21) went 91,93 including squeaking in a 10 foot putt on the final hole for a par. Other than a lot of pride, the team received a cash prize along with nice credit in the pro shop (member prices).  They finished a net 17-under par for the 36 holes played.

Elsewhere... the word on the street is that Kelley Kuehne defeated Jeff F. Jackson in a one-hole playoff at a match out at Oak Lane in Webberville.  Apparently Mr. Kuehne chipped in to save par while Big Frank left a 30 ft. winding putt about 1 inch short.  The one hole playoff resulted after - get this - they tied on the front and back nines (and obviously totals).
