Taming the Savage Beast Live trap yields raccoon
SALINE, MI APRIL 18, 2002 In an effort to catch the groundhog on the north side of our lot, my live trap yielded a raccoon. The bait? - A tempting medley of carrots, broccoli and sliced bread. It appears as though the bread was the key as it was added the night before. The trapped critter is pictured left, click the photo to enlarge.
Raccoons are a common pest in Michigan. Farmers have many methods of eliminating the beats, including shooting, trapping and poisoning. |

High noon for the raccoon Who's your daddy? |

After a brief stay in the trap for the day, I took this fellow on a long ride south towards Milan, MI, and he was safely released.
The elimination of this varmint did not seem to deter other raccoons from our property. Last night a coon the size of a Yugo was spotted negotiating the seeds out of our birdfeeder.
