Beaver Island Bash 2002

Pictures and Recap from the Weekend

BEAVER ISLAND, MICHIGAN  AUGUST 19, 2002

What a weekend up on Beaver Island.  A little rain and the light 50 mph winds on Saturday could not stop this party one bit.  Beach time, cards, swimming, volleyball, music, great food, drink, and conversation filled the days and nights for the eight of us.

On Friday the conversation centered around "Box Office Poison", referring to those actors that by merely appearing in a movie could cause it to bomb (e.g. Chevy Chase). This list will appear as a regular feature on gregdooley.com.

Thanks to the Kuehne's for hosting this epic event.   Please enjoy of few pictures from the weekend:

kathy.jpg (13839 bytes) Here's the hostess, Kathy Kuehne, taking a timeout for a quick snapshot.

lew&kays.jpg (22956 bytes) First timers Kathryn and Lew Popoff were very impressed with Beaver Island.  Here is Lew, looking as if has something up his sleeve, at least that is what is indicated by his devilish smile.   Kelley Kuehne keeps an eye on everyone else in the background.

joandjessica.jpg (19036 bytes) Jessica Dooley and Johanna Ruppert chatting on the couch.  I guess Jess doesn't think that people mind her bare feet on the table.

euchre2.jpg (31905 bytes) Euchre - a Beaver Island staple.  Many boasts of Euchre prowess were made this weekend yet we left the island with no clear winner.  Pictured left is Johanna and Jessica laying a beating on Kelley and Robert Pelon.  Later, Lew and the webmaster beat the ladies, and then lost to Kelley and Robert.  The result?  All three teams could lay claim to the title.  Perhaps we can settle this next year.

clearing.jpg (29399 bytes) Kelley took Robert and I on a little excursion into the Badlands of Beaver Island.  This "road" was so nasty we feared even Kays' Yukon might not make it through.  Robert is seen left clearing a downed tree that impeded our progress.  We traveled about a mile into this wilderness before having to turn around & go back.

kays&G.jpg (19008 bytes) Kelley and Greg at Iron Ore Bay on Saturday.  The lake was angry that day.
